Art I 12/12 - 12/16
Students will be working on the oil pastel still life this week. The last day in class to work is this Friday. We will have a 2nd 9 week test on Wednesday, students should study notes and information in the sketchbooks. Review will take place Monday and Tuesday during class. No sketchbook this week.

Wearable Students are turning in Polymer clay "Dwellings"today if they havent turned them in on Friday. This week we are working on Beads. Materials will be organic clay and polymer clay. One dozen beads will be made by 12/19.

Students are working on a produce still life in acrylic paint. Paintings will be critiqued on Monday, the 19th. This week is a painting week.
ADV ART 12/12-12/16
Advanced Art students are working on individual 'choice' projects. They have until the 19th to complete this assignment. Tuesday during class we will take our styrofoam pieces to the elementary school where they will be on display for a few weeks. Every other day is a studio work day in class.

Students will work on the copper dwelling assignment. Polymer clay will need to be baked by the end of this week. Projects will be turned in next week ready to be worn.

Art I 11/21-11/22
Students are working on self-portrait drawings. We will work through next week, before beginning with color theory.
Sketchbook this week is due on Tuesday. The assignment requires a printed "famous artwork" labeled with the title, artist, date, and description. With 3 facts about the piece.

Wearable Art 11/21-11/22
Wearable students should be done with woodblock printing at this point. We are working on polymer clay house pendants this week. Students will clean and prepare copper tubing and then attach clay to create a miniature dwelling.

Students will receive a sheet of plexiglas and begin engraving today! We will print next week.

This week the progress will be for styrofoam pieces to be primed with white house paint by the 22nd and ready for painting next week. Next week we have the tentative date for the PSU class to visit on Thursday the 1st of Dec. All Advanced students will be required to be present from 2:30- 4:00 on this day.

ART I 10/24-28
We continue into the world of Perspective this week. Monday students will work on 3 point perspectives in sketchbook. Tues - Friday we begin a large, independent drawing with perspective.
Wearable Art 10/24-28
Wearable students are carving into woodblocks to create printing plate. Monday is the first day for carving, carving will continue all week.
2/D - 3/D ART 10/24-28
Armature projects are due on Monday of this week. Any projects not completed on Monday will receive a dock in points. Tuesday we begin a clay sculpture - hopefully, the students will have a figure after only 4 days in class to sculpt. Progress grades on Friday.

We will visit with our cooperating design class Tuesday afternoon, and will be cutting into styrofoam all this week. The goal is to take a progress grade on Friday, and the basic foundation should be cut out.

ART I 10/17-21
Art I students will go over exams on Monday, then pick right back up with perspective sketches for this weeks sketchbook assignment. Sketchbook will be due on Thursday, 2 pages, one will have a number of boxes drawn in 2 pt. perspective, and then a 2nd assignment will be to draw 3 buildings in 2 pt. perspective.

Sketches for personal icon assignments are due on Tuesday, we will discuss these designs and select one for transfer to a woodblock. Thursday the container shall be turned in for ring display. They need to be strong enough to support the piece, and embellish the design.

Students continue on wrapping figure sculptures, with material. They should have 3 layers by the end of the week.

Students will spend a day or two this week with end of quarter cleaning, then continue on the clay models for the bathroom project. Design packets will be added to by the end of the week, and we will visit with our collaborating class at PSU on Tuesday the 25th.

Art I students will spend part of this week working on perspective sketchbook assignment. They are to draw their names in block letters and then create one point perspective on the name. We will be reviewing for the end of 9 week test, which may be Thursday or Friday. Sketchbooks due on Wed.

Rings will be finished and graded by the end of this week. All metal projects thus far will be on 1st 9 week grades.

Continuing to work on wire armatures for the sculpture project. Armature grades will be given on Wed. the wrapping will be graded on friday. Painting and finishing surface will be early next week. Sketchbooks are due this Thursday, the assignment is to complete a tshirt design for booster club contest.

Art I students are finishing value still life. May be finished with this drawing Tuesday or Wednesday. Sketchbook assignment is "hard/soft" chose one hard and one soft object and draw them overlapping to show how they feel through value and texture. Due on Thursday.

Student will turn in sketches and plans for sculpture project on Wed. Students choose style to build figure sculpture in, either Alberto Giacometti or Magdalena Abakanowicz, they need to give 3 new pieces of information and 12 descriptive words with 3 sketches for armature design. Armatures will be built this week. Students need to bring in their own 'skin' for this project.

Students are working on sketches and plans for the 'bathroom' project. Sketchbooks due on Tuesday. Wed. students will give presentations on an artist from the Renaissance Period. After sketches are turned in and discussed, we will begin making clay models small scale, work begins on Thursday for this.

ART I 9/26-9/30
Art I students will continue their study into value, this week we will work with the variety of techniques as hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, and scumbling. Sketchbook assignment will deal with these techniques and will be due on Thursday.
Wearable Art 9/26-9/30
Students have begun the Band Ring project. This week we will solder seams, and continue to cut and file components for the ring project. They will be due mid next week.
2/D - 3/D ART 9/26-9/30
Students will be working on self-portraits this week, and will be turning in these projects approximately on Thursday. Our next project will be a 3D piece dealing with the figure, plans and designs will be discussed at the end of this week, and sketchbooks will be due early next week.
Advanced ART 9/26-9/30
Advanced students will be turning in their open project by wed. at the latest. Designs for our collaborated project with the 3-D Design class at PSU will begin this week. Students will be receiving participation points on a routine basis for this extended project, as well as overall grades for the project once completed. Our part of this installation project will be to create a life size bathroom.

Art I students will turn in sketchbooks on Thursday, the assignment is to combine one object from nature with a mechanical object, draw the arrangement and add VALUE!
Students are working on value studies this week during class using a spot light for dramatic effect and will be experimenting with charcoal.

Wearable art students are finishing copper hoop earrings and will have those turned in before the end of the week. Altered books will be turned in Wed, the assignment is to draw 12 designs for a band ring, and to make 6 paper models.

Art I students will add thick and thin lines to their still life drawings this week. We will begin exercises in the element of Value, sketchbook assignment this week will deal with gradation and value.

Working on clasp and jump ring making. Soldering demonstration this week followed by hoop earring project. Students will begin designing soldered ring project. Altered book assignment is 12 ring designs, and paper models due on Friday.

Self portrait drawings are under way. Still life drawings were turned in last week, group critique on Monday, followed by character building of self-portraits.

Art I students are currently engaged in a contour line still life drawing. Accuracy and care of paper is extremely important in this assignment. Accent line, in thick and thin style will be practiced and applied to the drawings this week. Sketchbook assignment is one page covered in thick and thin lines, graded in class on Thursday.

Students will begin a still life drawing this week, the focus is on composititon, contour line and pencil control. Sketchbook - set up a small still life at home, using at least 3 objects and make a contour line drawing. Students should spend at least one hour working. Due on Thursday!

Begin cutting and cleaning 2nd shape for pendant. This week will we pierce, rivet, and oxidize.

After going over the syllabus, students will begin brainstorming project ideas. The first 9 week quarter has a theme of "the figure" Thursday students begin Gesture drawing in the classroom with a volunteer model, Friday we will leave the classroom and gesture draw in motion. Students need to bring in portfolios and painting palette.
